Youth today are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress and anxiety due to various factors such as academic pressures, social media influence, and societal expectations. This mental health crisis is compounded by the fact that many parents are not fully aware of the signs and symptoms of mental health issues in their children. They often lack the knowledge and tools needed to provide effective support. On the other hand, children frequently struggle to articulate their feelings and emotions, making it difficult for parents to understand what they are going through.
Elevate’s goal is to educate parents on recognizing and addressing mental health issues in their child, promote mental health literacy and create supportive environments, and foster healthier communication and understanding between parents and their children. To address the problem of youth experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety and the gap in understanding between parents and children regarding mental health, the solution involves developing an app for parents and interactive posters for children. The app for parents will provide resources, educational materials, and tools to help
them recognize the signs of mental health issues in their children and offer effective support strategies. Meanwhile, the interactive posters for children will use engaging visuals and activities to help them understand and communicate their feelings and emotions better. This dual approach aims to bridge the communication gap, ensuring that mental health problems are recognized and addressed promptly, ultimately supporting the overall well-being and development of children.
